About | D-Prize Competition for Social Entrepreneurs Worldwide

D-Prize is looking for entrepreneurs who can design a new enterprise that is either not for profit or a social enterprise, and distributes an existing solution to poverty to thousands or even millions of people. We have identified more than a dozen products and services known to reduce poverty. We are now challenging entrepreneurs to design ways to distribute them to people in need.

This year, our goal is to award more than 30 teams up to 20 000 $ each in seed capital to launch a pilot project and test their idea for a new enterprise.

All applications, including concept notes and CVs, must be written in English.

D-Prize competition assessment criteria

  • The applicant’s passion and potential: academic background, leadership and skills.
  • Focus on distribution: the ability to make a proven solution to poverty accessible.
  • Potential to scale up: organisational model and the founder’s commitment.

Proposals must be clear, concise and results-oriented, demonstrating scalability, impact and profitability.

Expected proposal content

The concept note must address several points:

  • Describe the organisation’s main activities.
  • Identify the barriers to access in the pilot region.
  • Explain how the distribution model overcomes them.
  • Define the expected short- and long-term impact.
  • Present a plan with quantified targets (3 months, 1 year, 2 years).
  • Provide a budget estimate for the pilot.
  • Outline the long-term vision.
  • Detail the team’s composition and commitments.

CVs must highlight leadership experience and relevant achievements.

Projects supported by D-Prize aim to:

  • Increase access to vital interventions (health, agriculture, energy, education).
  • Reduce inequalities by targeting the most vulnerable populations.
  • Create sustainable organisations capable of moving from a pilot to national or regional scale.

By promoting the distribution of proven solutions, D-Prize contributes directly to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
